Chiefs, Mahomes rip out Raiders’ heart in final minute of 35-31 win

Patrick Mahomes threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to Travis Kelce with 28 seconds left Sunday night to give the Kansas City Chiefs a 35-31 win over the Raiders at Allegiant Stadium.

The drive erased a 75-yard drive engineered by Derek Carr, finishing in a 1-yard pass to Jason Witten, to take the lead with 1:43 remaining.

Falling to 6-4 and 3-1 in the AFC West, the Raiders are three games behind the Chiefs (9-1, 3-2), the Super Bowl champions and division winners for the past five years. The Chiefs (9-1, 3-2). The Raiders last won the AFC West in 2002.

The Raiders were hoping to sweep the series for the first time since 2012, when the Chiefs were 2-14 the year before Andy Reid arrived as head coach.

Carr was 23 of 31 for 275 yards, three touchdowns and a late interception by Daniel Sorenson in the game’s final desperate moments.

Mahomes finished 34 of 45 for 348 yards and two touchdowns and the Chiefs set a franchise record with 36 first downs.
