Singer-songwriter Atif Aslam is making his television acting debut in Hum TV's upcoming drama Sang-e-Mah and the poster alone had the man trending on Twitter for days. The recently released teaser is only increasing the hype as fans are excited to see their favourite singer on screen beside actors Kubra Khan and Hania Aamir.
The first teaser was released on December 11 and with the rhythmic beating of a tabla and Aslam's singing as the backdrop, they introduce the rural setting and the characters. The teaser features guns flashing, men crossing fields and dancing in a circle near charpoys.
Sang-e-Mah is the sequel to 2016's Sang-e-Mar Mar, which starred Kubra Khan, Sania Saeed, Naumaan Ijaz and Mikaal Zulfiqar. The show won awards at the 5th Hum Awards in 2017. The sequel is set to release at the end of this month.
The story follows a family belonging to the tribal areas of Pakistan and their traditional values that are prioritised over love and even their lives. Sang-e-Mar Mar was declared a hit and so expectations from this one are very high, especially because of the star-studded cast.
This is Aslam's first drama but he has acted once before in the Pakistani film Bol alongside Mahira Khan in 2011. The film was very well received.
The singer has quite the effect on his fans and it looks like his following is only going to increase with this drama.
