ICC announced the roadmap for its upcoming mega-events from 2024 to 2031. for the first time in three decades, Pakistan will host the Champions Trophy (CT) 2025.
Days after the announcement, the Indian government is concerned about their participation in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Anurag Thakur, sports minister Indian and former BCCI president, said that they will announce their decision after a thorough analysis of the security situation.
“When the time will come, the Indian government and the Home Ministry will take a decision. During the international championships, all the factors are looked upon,” said Thakur while speaking to the media.
“Even in past, many countries have refused to play in Pakistan due to security concerns,” he added.
Yesterday, during a virtual press conference held by the PCB chairman Ramiz Raja, he mentioned that it has never been easy to pull out of international tournaments.
“It is not an easy task to pull out of an international tournament. Once the rights are awarded, these feuds between different cricketing boards are also considered while making the decision. In my opinion, India will not pull out,” said Raja.
