ISLAMABAD: Speaker Sindh Assembly Agha Siraj Durrani on Wednesday filed a fresh pre-arrest bail plea in the Supreme Court and also filed a separate petition for hearing in next week.
After addressing the objections made by SC registrar office, the PPP leader filed the petition to avoid his possible arrest by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in the illegal assets reference after the SHC revoked his bail.
Earlier, on November 13, the Supreme Court registrar office returned the pre-arrest bail plea of Siraj Durrani with objections on his failure to present himself for arrest after his bail petition was rejected by the Sindh High Court.
The office had also objected over the petitioner’s failure to submit an undertaking.
The high court, however, allowed the bail petitions of Durrani’s wife, three daughters, a son and two others in the same reference.
The NAB had filed a reference against the speaker, his brother Agha Masihuddin, his wife, son and daughters as well as 13 others before a NAB court in 2019 for allegedly accumulating assets worth over Rs1.61 billion through illegal means.
