LAHORE: Senior Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) leader Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan has cast serious doubts over the affidavit of Gilgit-Baltistan’s former chief justice Rana Shamim’s affidavit and termed it a concocted one.
Talking to newsmen at the Lahore High Court premises, Ahsan said that apparently, Shamim’s affidavit is bogus. No chief justice can give such instructions to any other person in the presence of another person.
Justice Amer Farooq of the Islamabad High Court was not on the bench, not even in the country. He was out of the country at that time.
This affidavit was made by going to London, everyone knows London is the stronghold of Nawaz Sharif, he said, adding that there are many doubts about it, as Rana Shamim went to London two days after the death of his brother to make the affidavit.
It is the same blunder as was the caliber font or Qatari letter, which has become the norm of the Sharif family. There should be no doubt as to who is behind this affidavit, Aitzaz added.
He said to-date, Nawaz Sharif has not been able to give his money trail.
Nawaz Sharif made a statement in the National Assembly and made another statement in his address to the public.
A son of Nawaz Sharif owns the London properties, while the other says that he lives in a rented house and his family does not own Avenfield Apartments.
Aitzaz said that if the affidavit was proved to be forged then action must be taken against those who have made this affidavit, adding that if it is proved that Rana Shamim’s statement was fabricated by Nawaz Sharif, then he too will deserve punishment.
