RAWALPINDI: The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) Special Envoy for Jammu and Kashmir, Ambassador Yousef Aldobeay and Assistant Secretary-General (Humanitarian Affairs), Ambassador Tariq Ali Bakheet visited Muzaffarabad on Thursday with a high-level delegation that included five senior diplomats from brotherly Muslim countries, including Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Sudan and the Maldives.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the delegation visited Thotha Refugees Camp today where it was briefed on elaborate measures taken for the socio-economic wellbeing of the inhabitants who fled from Indian atrocities in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

The delegates also visited a vocational training centre and interacted with the refugees, said the military’s media wing.
Later, the delegation met the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) where they were informed about the security monitoring mechanism along the line of control (LoC) and prevalent situations, added the ISPR.

During the visit, the high-level delegation also met Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s (AJK) President Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry and Prime Minister Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi, besides meetings with the representatives of various political parties and members of civil society.

The delegation thanked the government of Pakistan for allowing them to visit the LoC and get an eyewitness account of the situation around it and the impact of Indian atrocities on Kashmiris.

Earlier, military officials, deployed at the LoC, had briefed the OIC’s envoy Ambassador Aldobeay on the latest security situation at the flashpoint.
