The release date for Windows 11 is set for October 5, Microsoft announced on Tuesday. The announcement comes just months after the unveiling of the new operating system in late June this year.
The software company said that on October 5, a free upgrade to Windows 11 will launch on all eligible Windows 10 PCs and Rolling Out, which comes with the next generation Windows operating system, will be available for sale.
The newer version of Windows will come with a number of changes, including a refreshed interface and a centrally located Start menu. However, it will not include support for Android apps when it officially releases in October.

Microsoft will start launching Windows 11 on Windows 10-enabled PCs from October 5, although not all PCs will be updated to the new version on the first day. Updates will be available in stages. “We expect all eligible devices to be offered a free upgrade to Windows 11 by mid-2022,” Aaron Woodman, general manager of Windows Marketing at Microsoft, said in a blog post.

Microsoft has promised to re-launch the PC Health Check app soon so that users can check the eligibility status of their Windows 10 PCs.
