We knew there was no way Barack Obama is a Trump fan, but finally, we’re getting to hear how he really feels
For a lot of Donald Trump’s presidency, his predecessor, Barack Obama, has stayed frustratingly quiet. We knew there was no way the former president agreed with, well, anything the new one was doing, but he’s largely stayed away from publicly criticizing anyone who is currently in office. That is, until now. The 44th POTUS is hitting the campaign trail for his VP, Joe Biden, and for once, he’s letting loose with his real thoughts about Donald Trump.
At a drive-in rally event in Philadelphia, Obama attacked Trump’s work (or lack thereof) in the Oval Office, but also made some blistering personal attacks aimed at the president’s cronyism, lack of moral fiber, and sinking TV ratings for his events and rallies.

“I never thought Donald Trump would embrace my vision or continue my policies, but I did hope for the sake of the country, that he might show some interest in taking the job seriously,” Obama said. “But it hasn’t happened. He hasn’t showed any interest in doing the work or helping anybody but himself and his friends.”
And when he noted that Trump inherited a booming economy from him, Obama added, but “just like everything else he inherited, he messed it up.”
One of the first things Obama took aim at was Trump’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has killed more than 220,000 people in the U.S. Trump has said there is “not much” he would change about his actions.
“Really?” Obama said. “Not much? Nothing you can think of that could have helped some people keep their loved ones alive?”
People honked and cheered from their cars as Obama continued, “This is not a reality show — this is reality. Four years ago, you’d be tailgating here instead of watching a speech from your car.”
Another issue Obama addressed is Trump’s handling of the economy — “I get this president wants full credit for the economy he inherited, and zero blame for the pandemic he ignored” — his Twitter habits — “You know what? The job doesn’t work that way. Tweeting at the television doesn’t fix things” — and the secret bank account news reports have just revealed he holds in China.
“How is that possible? A secret Chinese bank account,” Obama asked. “Listen, can you imagine if I had had a secret Chinese bank account when I was running for reelection? You think Fox News might have been a little concerned about that? They would have called me Beijing Barry.”
