In her new show, “Briarpatch,” Rosario Dawson plays Allegra Dill, an investigator who returns home to solve her sister’s murder. Her character also has an affair with her boss, a senator.
Of course, in real life, Dawson, 40, has been dating New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker since 2018.
“It’s the first time I felt like I had to be responsible about my choice of love, which is a challenging thing to do,” Dawson said of her relationship with Booker, 50, in an interview with Bustle.
Dawson, who stars in the USA Network series, which premiered Feb. 6, talked about the circumstances that made her relationship with Booker different and addressed her sexuality in the interview.
“If you fall in love, you fall in love,” she said. “But there’s another aspect I had to consider: what this meant in (putting) a microscope on my family and particularly on my daughter,” she said, referring to her daughter Isabella, 17, who she adopted in 2014.
“But in each other I think we found our person,” she said of Booker, who announced in January that he would suspend his presidential campaign. (Dawson said she will support whoever becomes the Democratic nominee.)
