Heads up if you’re vacationing in Florida this chilly week: Several water parks in Florida are closing due to cold temperatures in the Sunshine State.
Volcano Bay at Universal Orlando Resort and Aquatica Orlando have shut down, according to the parks’ respective social media platforms. Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park is also closed.
On the whole, the Southeast had been experiencing a warmer winter, according to AccuWeather. However, cold air has now made a pit stop. As of 9 a.m. Tuesday, the temperature in Orlando was 45℉, according to Accuweather. The high will only hit the low 50s.
“During the peak of the cold weather, highs are forecast to range from the lower 30s over the southern Appalachians to the middle 60s in South Florida,” AccuWeather reports. Across much of the area, it seems Tuesday night will be the chilliest, with temps dropping into the mid-30s overnight into Wednesday morning.
Volcano Bay was closed Monday, Jan. 20, and will remain closed through Wednesday, Jan. 22. Customers can call (407) 817-8317 for updates about when the park will reopen.
