The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 place specific responsibilities on duty holders, including designers and contractors, and make them accountable for the consideration and management of health and safety in construction work. This CDM Regulations course has been designed to provide learners with practical knowledge of key duty holder requirements under the new CDM Regulations.

Why take this course?

Many construction activities are hazardous, and some can pose serious immediate and long-term risks to health and safety. These risks can cause accidents and ill-health to a wide range of workers and others nearby, with a recent Labour Force survey reporting around 60,000 non-fatal accidents and over 30 fatal accidents occurring annually within the UK construction sector.

Understanding the CDM Regulations is essential to carrying out construction work safely. Key duty holders must ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare of all workers - this includes the prevention and control of risks that may result from any activities involved in the work. Inadequate planning and controls can have significant impacts on organisations and individuals, including injuries, ill health, fatalities, legal proceedings and loss of earnings and reputation.

All those involved in construction work are at risk of causing themselves and others serious injuries and ill health if they improperly carry out activities. All workers must be provided with suitable and sufficient information, instruction and training on their duties to ensure they can carry out their work activities safely. This course will support key duty holders to ensure all those involved in construction have a strong understanding of the associated risks, and an awareness of the controls used to manage them.
